Answer the question:-
1.Name the various components of air.
Ans:-Oxygen, Carbon dioxide, Nitrogen, water vapour and dust particles.

2. What is air pollution?
Ans: Air pollution occurs when gases, dust, smoke or odor get into the air and make it unclean.

3. What is the major cause of air pollution?
Ans: Poisonous gases released by the vehicles and the factory chimneys contribute to major cause of air pollution.

4. What are the various ways to reduce air pollution?
Ans: To reduce air pollution:-
*We should try to walk our destinations more often.
*Use bicycles instead of cars for small distances
*Use public transport.

Q5.How do plants help in keeping the air clean?
Ans:Plants take carbon dioxide and release oxygen and thus help in keeping the air clean.

Q6.Why are people advised to stay in their homes during the storm?
Ans:STORM:- A strong wind is called a storm.
A storm has a lot of force and cause damage to things (house, trees, moving objects) coming in its way and thus people are advised to stay at home during the storm.

        Q7.Air is everywhere
Ans: We can say air is everywhere because we have seen leaves on the tree rustling, we can feel the cool breeze that proves the presence of air.
Carbohydrate-
  • Wheat products – chappatis, spaghetti, porridge, biscuits, etc
  • Rice based items – noodles, puffed rice, flat rice, etc
  • Others-Barley, rye, oat, maize, millets, nuts, -
  • Vegetables and fruits like – beans, carrots, potatoes, Bananas.

Fibres-Cereals, rice, fruits, vegetables, etc 
Protein -egg, milk, curd, cheese, animal meat, pulses such as beans, gram, moong, etc
Fat-Oil, butter, samosa, bhajiya, gulab jamun, eggs, meat, milk, nuts, ghee and all fried food.
Q-8 Balanced diet:-
A diet that contains all the essential nutrients such as proteins ,fats, carbohydrates , vitamins, minerals , fibre and water in sufficient amount to keep us healthy is  called as a balanced diet.
Q9.How is our body a wonderful machine?
ANS .Like other machines our body runs on the fuel which we get from the food we eat. If it doesn't get the right kind of food then it will not function properly
Q.10.Why do children require more amounts of proteins than adults? 
Ans: As it is their growing age children require more amounts of proteins than adults.

Q.11. Consuming foods rich in nutrients are good rather than  consuming  artificially made  nutrient-rich tablets.  Why?
Ans :Consuming foods rich in nutrients are good, as they are natural. Medicines might have side effects.
Q.12.Why people in very cold regions have red meat?
Ans : The fat that they get from red meat helps to maintain the warmth in the body.
Q.13. What happens when we eat too much of fatty foods?
Ans: We become fat, lazy, develop ailments, etc.
Q.14.Why  do we get tired? Name some activities that tire you.
Ans: Lose of energy makes us tired.
Eg: walking , running, climbing ,swimming etc.

Q.15. What do we do in order to regain that lost energy?
Ans: We eat food, drink water and take rest  to get energy. 
Q.16.How can we always stay healthy and fit?
ANS.-If we eat home-made  and healthy food then only we can stay healthy and fit.
Q-17 ‘Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.’Explain the statement. 
Ans. Eating breakfast provides us with important nutrients and keeps us away from getting morning stomach aches. It also helps to control the urge to snack at odd times or eat a heavy lunch. 
Q-18 Exercise is important for our body to maintain good health. Give your reasons. 
Ans. Regular physical activity helps burn calories, helps with weight control and helps to prevent certain diseases. Children should enjoy different types of physical activity at home and at school.

A. India, China, Iraq, Thailand, Sri-lanka, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Russia.

20.  Name any three deserts in Asia.
A. Arabian Desert, Gobi Desert, Thar Desert.

22.  Name the smallest ocean in the world.
A. The Arctic ocean
23.  Which is the second largest ocean of the world?
A. The Atlantic ocean
24.  Which oceans bound the continent of Asia?
A. The Pacific ocean, the Indian Ocean and the Arctic Ocean.

26. Africa is known as Dark Continent.
Ans:- For long time the continent Africa was not known due to its difficult environment. Therefore it is known as Dark Continent.

27. Australia is known as Island continent.
Ans:- Australia is the largest island and the smallest continent of the world. As a landform it is considered as an island as it is entirely surrounded by water and not connected with any other landform.

 28. Antarctica is also called as Frozen continent.
Ans:- Antarctica is a frozen land area around the South Pole. Its lowest temperature is recorded as - 89.2 degree C
(-129.F). The ice sheet here is said to be 4 km thick.

Q29. What are natural resources? Give some example of natural resources.
Ans. Natural resources are the things that we can use and get from the nature. Sunlight, air, water, soil, rocks, animals, plants, coal and minerals are some examples of natural resources.

Q30. Name the types of Natural Resources.
Ans. There are two types of natural resources:
      a- Renewable Resource and
      b- Non-Renewable Resource
Q31. What are renewable resources? Give two examples.
 Ans. Renewable resources are the resources which are replaced naturally and are available in abundant. Examples -  Air, Water, Sunlight
Q32.  What are non-renewable resources? Give two examples.
 Ans. Non-Renewable resource is a resource that once consumed, cannot be replaced or it can be replaced very slowly by natural processes. Their stock or reserves are limited or fixed. 
Examples -  Coal, Petrol.

Ans. I)-Reduce- throw less waste
  ii)-Reuseuse the things into new way
 iii)-Recycle- Turn something old into something new.
Q36. Our dependence on nature is generating many environment related problems. List two problems.
 Ans. i-More pollution due to deforestation,
         ii-Water scarcity

Q37. Conservation of natural resources is important.
Ans. Our consumption of natural resources is very fast. It cannot be restored back in the environment with same speed and thus all our natural resources is depleting and nothing will be left for the future generation. So, it is necessary to conserve our natural resources.

Q38 -What does the term Caveman means?
A-Thousands of years ago when man was a monkey, lived in caves. He wore clothes made from leaves and barks of trees, ate animal meat and fruits.

Q39-How is timeline useful?
Ans-A timeline is an easy way to remember events  happened in past. It makes a complete picture of our history.

Q40-What are important events called?
A-The important events are called Milestones.

Q41-How the birth of Jesus Christ is marked on timeline?
A-The birth of Jesus Christ is marked as the year 1AD on timeline.

Q-42 150 BCE comes before 100 BCE  on the timeline.
Ans. In BCE, the years are counted backwards. The events happening in 100 BCE will come after the events that happened in 150 BCE.

Q-43.Timeline is important.
Ans.
