24. The Past Tense
1. Fill in the blanks
with the past tense of the verbs given in the brackets.
a. Mother went to the theatre yesterday evening. (go)

2. Answer the

5. Complete the
paragraph with the suitable past tense form of the verbs given in the brackets.
Last evening, the people of Gaya were (was/were) busy
doing various things. Some children were making (make) paper boats to
sail in the puddles. The miller was grinding (grind) the corn. A lady was
buying (buy) a kilo of apples at the market. The milkmaid was milking
(milk) her cow but the cow kicked the pail. Few carpenters were
sawing (saw) the logs when it began raining heavily.
