Ans:The kitten crouches, stretches, paws the ground and darts with a
tiger-leap half way to catch her prey.

b In the poem ‘Kitten at Play’, why does the kitten let her prey go?
Ans:The kitten lets her prey go because she knows that she can catch it
again.

c In the poem ‘Kitten at Play’, why is the kitten compared to an Indian
conjurer?
Ans:The kitten is compared to an Indian conjurer because she can play
with three and four leaves together.
d. In the story ‘The Baker’s Village’, what did the villagers give the
elephant in return for his assistance?
Ans:The villagers gave the elephant some fresh bread in return for his
assistance.

e. In the story ‘The Baker’s Village’, why could the villagers not pull their
handcarts across the river?
Ans:The villagers could not pull their hand carts across the river because
they were growing old.

f. In the story ‘The Baker’s Village’, how did the villagers spend their life in the village?
Ans: The villagers did not have much money but they were happy living
and working together.

Diwali?
Ans: Pritam decided to wear the green shirt which Grandma had gifted
him on last Diwali.

h. In the story ‘The Piggy Bank’, what was Mayuri doing outside the toy
shop?
Ans: Mayuri stood gazing at the big white teddy bear in the display
window outside the toy shop.

i. In the story ‘The Piggy Bank’, why did Grandma call Mayuri a ‘kind
child’?
Ans: Grandma called Mayuri a ‘kind child’ because she gave the money
she had saved to Pritam for his costume for the school annual function.

J. What did the villagers give the elephant in return for his assistance?
Ans:The villagers gave the elephant some fresh bread in return for his assistance.

K. What did the villagers start doing again? How was the elephant benefitted for that?
Ans: The villagers started baking and selling bread again. 
The elephant was benefitted by getting his share of fresh bread every day.

L. How did the elephant help the villagers?
Ans: The villagers had to cross a shallow river to reach the other villages. Sometimes, their carts would get stuck in the wet mud of the river and the elephant used to help the villagers pull out their carts.

M. What did the villagers do while returning to their village in the evening?
Ans:The villagers collected wood to make fire and bought flour to make more bread the next day.
