a. Who were Rahmat Khan and Raza Khan?

Rahmat Khan was the royal tailor to Emperor Akbar and Raza Khan was his son. They were going to Fatehpur Sikri to present the angarakhas that the emperor had ordered for summer.

b. Describe the angarakhas that were presented to Emperor Akbar.

The angarakhas were made of the finest muslin and covered with delicate embroidery. They were in summer colours - cream, lemon, pale blue, green and a sparkling white.

c. What was the emperor’s reaction when he wore the suggested angarakha?

When the emperor wore the white angarakha, Emperor Akbar said that he liked the embroidery and it fitted well too.

d. Why was Rahmat Khan worried?

Rahmat Khan was worried because Raza had tried one patka after another on the emperor’s angarakha but nothing pleased Akbar.

e. Which patka finally please Emperor Akbar? 

Raza suggested that Emperor Akbar could try Dhaniji’s bright red turban as patka. When he wore the patka, he liked it because it was bright and had a new design.

f. What did Raza find attractive about Dhani-ji?

When Raza studied Dhaniji, he found Dhaniji’s bright red turban, printed with a design in white and yellow squares attractive.

g. What information did Dhani-ji give Raza about his turban?

Dhaniji informed Raza that he came from the land of the Rajputs and the design on his turban called bandhani, came from his homeland.
