errand: a short trip to complete some work

pitter-patter: the sound of rain

rejoiced: showed great joy or happiness

rewarded: gave something to someone

because they had done something good

cheer up- become less miserable.

 

Answer the following questions.

a)    What did Farmer Sood want to do with his wheat?

Ans:  Farmer Sood wanted to sell his wheat so that his family could live on the money for the rest of the year.

 

b)    Why did Lia go down to the field?

Ans:  Lia went down to the field to help the farmer.

 

c)     ‘With a great shout of joy, the raindrops jumped down.’ Why were the raindrops full of joy?

Ans: The raindrops were full of joy because they were going down to cheer up the farmer.

 

d)    Where did Lila fall?

Ans: Lia landed on the farmer’s nose and Lila fell on a thirsty stalk of wheat.

 

e)    Why did Farmer Sood rejoice after the rain?

Ans:  Farmer Sood rejoiced after the rain because all his hard work was finally rewarded as the wheat grew and ripened.

f)      Who wanted to help the farmer?

Ans: Two little raindrops Lia and Lila wanted to help the farmer.
